MFA Program
|
The Intermedia Area of The University of Iowa School of Art & Art History offers a two year MA/three year MFA program. Intermedia graduate students participate in a weekly Graduate Workshop to review research and creative work in progress while focusing on contemporary theory and practice. Visitors in the arts, readings, viewings, and field trips round out the Workshop curriculum. Each semester, the Workshop mounts an Open House to showcase graduate creative work in Intermedia. Intermedia graduate students are provided individual studios in the Intermedia Area of the Studio Arts Building, a 250,000 square foot creative warehouse shared by all studio arts programs. Intermedia is committed to providing teaching and research experience and financial support for its graduate students. The area currently has six year-long graduate teaching and research assistant positions. T.As in Intermedia teach undergraduate classes, meeting bi-weekly with Intermedia faculty to discuss their courses. Teaching and Research appointments are made in the preceding semester. Intermedia graduate students will also find a diverse range of other employment opportunities within the University, and exceptional students are eligible for consideration for a number of competitive fellowships.
